Tradewind Books is a small publishing house with offices in Vancouver, British Columbia. We are distributed in Canada through Publisher's Group Canada, in the US through Orca Books Publishers, in the UK through Turnaround Publisher Services, and in Australia through John Reed Book Distribution. We publish quality books with excellent design and illustration. Our beautifully illustrated picture books tell stories from around the world: from Mexico to Iraq, China to Russia. We have published notable Canadian authors and illustrators such as Sheree Fitch, Ellen Schwartz, Sheldon Oberman, Paul Yee, Phillipe Beha, Stephan Czernecki, James Heneghan, and Cynthia Nugent as well as award-winning authors and illustrators from around the world such as Michael Rosen, Jane Yolen, Robert San Souci, Adrian Mitchell, and Grace Lin. In addition to traditional picture books we publish poetry, chapter books and novels for young people and teenagers. Some of our more recent titles include : Honey Cake by Joan Stutchner published in the US by Random House Books for young people in August 2008 -- Joan will be a featured author on tour with the Canadian Children's Books Centre's TD Book Week; All Aboard for Dreamland, by Melanie Harby published in the US by Simon Schuster in June 2008 The Eco-Diary of Kiran Singer, by Sue Ann Alderson which won the 2008 ALA Henry Bergh Award for best YA book concerning the environment and animal protection and nominated for the Norma Fleck award for best Canadian non-fiction-2008 Abby's Birds, by Ellen Schwartz which was shortlisted for five book awards If I had a Million Onions, by Sheree Fitch, which Kirkus Reviews called "a delight from first line to last" in a starred review. Bob Heiddreder, author of our newest title Crocodiles Play will be a featured speaker at the prestigious 2008 Calgary Kaleidoscope Children's Literature Conference; Vi Hughes, author of The Graveyard was a featured speaker at the recent 2008 Harvesting Passion in Readers BC Provincial IRA Literacy Conference – Kelowna, BC; Paul Yee has been invited to the 2009 Winnipeg Children's Festival We hope you enjoy our books as much as our readers do.
